Welcome to the "official" blog for the Society of ElectroAcoustic Music in the United States National Conference, to be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota April 8-10th 2010. Your conference hosts, Scott Miller and Kristian Twombly, have already been quite busy already, organizing the performance and paper locations, finding banquet facilities, and setting up our web presence. We're not quite ready to launch the Conference Website yet, but will soon.
The SEAMUS board is considering lots of exciting options for the future, and we're hopeful that we'll get to introduce some of them to you for this year's conference.
But until those decisions are made, let me share some other information with you. The postmark deadline for the call for works is October 15th. We have already lined up some performers, including Trio Lorca (soprano, flute and percussion), flute, trombone, violin, viola, bass, percussion and soprano.
There are three hotels within walking distance of campus, located in downtown St. Cloud. There are a number of fine restaurants, coffee shops, and some excellent bars, all within a few blocks of the hotels. There is an airport in St. Cloud, although flying into the Twin Cities (Minneapolis St Paul International Airport) is easy, and a shuttle runs about every two hours.
Over the next few months, look for announcements for the conference hotel, a more detailed call for works, the official website launch, and interactive maps with restaurant recommendations...and much more!
