Submissions now closed!

I'd like to thank all those who submitted nearly 400 works for everything from cassette tape to live interactive video and sound to the 2010 Conference!

We've begun the adjudication process and hope to have it wrapped up at the end of November, with decisions made in early December. We're starting to see the beginnings of a fantastic program and Scott and I are both tremendously excited to how everything shapes up.

Unfortunately, it appears that our local airport - situated only about 3 miles outside of town - is suspending service to the Twin Cities. Minneapolis-St Paul international airport is only about 90 miles from campus, but this does slightly reduce the options for arriving here. There is a great shuttle service that runs from St. Cloud to the airport (about $36 each way, runs every two hours). We'll also try to help facilitate shared rides once the conference approaches.

See you in April!

SEAMUS 2010 website

We're busy at work on the official SEAMUS2010 website. It's not quite ready for launch yet, but keep your eyes peeled here for an announcement.

Some thanks to share:

Sharon Cogdill, Interim Dean, College of Fine Arts and Humanities
Mark Springer, Interim Associate Dean, College of Fine Arts and Humanities
Loren Boone, Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications
Phil Thorsen, Director, Information Technology Services
Mario Felix, COFAH Technology Analyst & Manager

These St. Cloud State University colleagues have been working hard over the last few months to help us figure out how to better involve the campus and local community in this exciting conference! We literally could not get the conference done without their help. Thanks!

Welcome!

Welcome to the "official" blog for the Society of ElectroAcoustic Music in the United States National Conference, to be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota April 8-10th 2010. Your conference hosts, Scott Miller and Kristian Twombly, have already been quite busy already, organizing the performance and paper locations, finding banquet facilities, and setting up our web presence. We're not quite ready to launch the Conference Website yet, but will soon.

The SEAMUS board is considering lots of exciting options for the future, and we're hopeful that we'll get to introduce some of them to you for this year's conference.

But until those decisions are made, let me share some other information with you. The postmark deadline for the call for works is October 15th. We have already lined up some performers, including Trio Lorca (soprano, flute and percussion), flute, trombone, violin, viola, bass, percussion and soprano.

There are three hotels within walking distance of campus, located in downtown St. Cloud. There are a number of fine restaurants, coffee shops, and some excellent bars, all within a few blocks of the hotels. There is an airport in St. Cloud, although flying into the Twin Cities (Minneapolis St Paul International Airport) is easy, and a shuttle runs about every two hours.

Over the next few months, look for announcements for the conference hotel, a more detailed call for works, the official website launch, and interactive maps with restaurant recommendations...and much more!
